If you have your Aadhaar number and registered mobile number

  • If you have your Aadhaar number, the procedure is straightforward. You can get your Aadhaar card by visiting https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in#. can utilise a printed copy of your eAadhaar from the mAadhaar App on your smartphone.
  • This eAadhaar is a legally legitimate form of your Aadhaar and is as valid as the Aadhaar letter you received in the mail.

If you have an Aadhaar number but don’t have a registered mobile number/ email ID

  • By providing any other mobile number to receive OTP, you can still obtain your Aadhaar. However, you will not be able to see a preview of the Aadhaar details before making the payment in this situation.
  • It’s also worth noting that this does not imply that your new mobile number will be added to your Aadhaar.

How to get a new one

  • Visit https://uidai.gov.in or https://resident.uidai.gov.in
  • To order an Aadhaar card, go to the “Order Aadhaar Card” service.
  • Enter your 12-digit Unique Identification Number (UID), 16-digit Virtual Identification Number (VID), or 28-digit Enrollment ID.
  • Fill in the security code.
  • If you do not have a registered mobile number, please check the box, and click the checkbox.

If you don’t have an Aadhaar number but have your registered mobile number/ email ID

  • In this situation, go to https://resident.uidai.gov.in/lost-uideid or use your mAadhaar app to retrieve your Aadhaar number. Your Aadhaar number is delivered to the mobile number/email address you provide when you authenticate by inputting the OTP obtained.

Aadhaar Card Download by Name and Date of Birth

If you do not have your Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID (EID) with you, you can still get a your-Aadhaar card from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website using your personal details such as name and date of birth.

You will be required to follow the steps mentioned below to download your Aadhaar card.

  • Visit the official Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website at www.uidai.gov.in
  • On the home page, click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ option on the top menu.
  • Under the ‘My Aadhaar’ option, go to the ‘Aadhaar Services’ sub-menu.
  • Click on the ‘Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID’.
  • You will be redirected to a new web page wherein you will have to fill up your personal details.
  • Check the box against the ‘Aadhaar No. (UID)’ option or the ‘Enrolment ID (EID)’ option, as per your requirement.
  • Fill up the fields provided on the form with your full name and the registered mobile phone number or the registered email address.
  • Fill up the Captcha Verification field with the Captcha provided in the picture and click on the ‘Send OTP’ button.
  • A Time Password (OTP) will be sent to your mobile number which is registered with the UIDAI.
  • Enter the OTP in the field provided and click on the ‘Verify and Download’ button.
  • Once the OTP is verified, the e-Aadhar will be downloaded.

Aadhar Card Overview

Aadhaar is a 12-digit identification number given to every citizen of India based on their biometric and demographic data. The 12-digit number will be unique for every individual. The Aadhar card number is being issued and managed by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). It helps in offering well-organized and transparent governance by ruling out unethical practices and corruption to a large extent. This is because each resident is offered a unique identification number. It is mandatory to have an Aadhaar knowing the increasing importance and launching of different government-based schemes today.

Every Indian resident should be issued an Aadhar card. A person who resides in India for 182 days, from the date of Aadhaar application is ideally considered a resident. Also, foreigners who have stayed in India for more than a year are eligible for Aadhar enrolment.

Eligibility Criteria for Aadhar Card

Aadhar Card for Resident Indians – As per the Aadhaar Act, of 2016, only an Indian citizen who has resided in India for a duration of 182 days or more in the 12 months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment.

Aadhar Card for Minors – UIDAI is issuing Blue Colour Aadhaar (Namely Bal Aadhaar) for children in the age group of 0 to 5 years. After the age of 5 years, the child will need to get his/her demographic and biometric details updated against the same Aadhar card number by visiting the nearest Enrolment Centre.

Aadhaar for Foreigners – Foreigners who are residing in India are eligible to apply for Aadhar if they satisfy the period of stay as per the Aadhaar act, 2016.
